I am a programmer and I don't even use ChatGPT out of the box half of the stuff it provides generally doesn't even work it is however great when you really do not want to write out a basic sorting algorithm yourself... It takes hours of telling Chat to change it answer just to get something decent then the next thing it would post would ignore all the rules set and give you complete garbage again. I have a strict do not delete my comments rule which chat always ignores the 3rd time around. Then it replaces my comments with absolutely braindead comments. I've also asked it to help bridge my knowledge with a language that is very different, about 95% of the code and syntax it gave me was incorrect, that said I did essentially figure it out myself.
