On a more serious note, isn't it strange that the acknowledgement of "is there awareness, is there consciousness, is there understanding -- we don't really know" is within the same context and framework as "it must be just a tool"? Does it strike as dissonance only me?
As for betting vs AI. As Hinton said, he thinks ppl should forget the idea that they have something that AI will never have. So far the trend was as such.
