the ai 'artists' aren't the enemy. they're stupid, and at worst, grifters that get scared about losing an opportunity to grift. The massive companies pouring billions of dollars into replacing workers are the enemy. Fighting trolls is 1/10 as effective as following legislature and contributing if the chance ever comes your way it doesn't matter to me if it is technically 'creativity' or 'art'. people will argue about that forever. This *is* class warfare - a way of taking hard work from humans and making the money that comes from their hard work not go to them. I can very much see AI being economically viable for a company like Disney. the original luddites were afraid because they were going to lose their jobs. this is valid. this is 100x valid. There was no promise of the modern middle class, which is the main concept people use to belittle working-class fears from that era. There is no promise that 'it will all work out' for the lower classes - every battle for the working class was and will be hard-fought. I used to be on the 'if it's open source, it's fine!' side of this argument. but this, (along with still completely removing capital flow to training artists) is just a cynical ploy to appear 'for the people'. It's still aimed at replacing people. An open source program that needs a massive server to run is not for anyone but massive companies. shout it in the streets - ai is class warfare!
