On the one hand chilling on the other, a massive distraction. What this otherwise clever man is really stopping himself thinking about is climate change. We will hit 1.8'C above pre-industrial global temps next month and everyone is looking the other way. But the laws of physics tell us his children, nephews and nieces will face the brutal, violent consequences of societal breakdown a long time before 'the machines' can take over. All this AI fantasy fear is just an exercise in intellectual masturbation, cheap thrills - anything to avoid the fact our destruction of our essential habitat is accelerating wildly fast. No surprise Musk is so good at it. The mundane reality is very few of us will be able to adapt and 'AI' will only be another pile leaking toxic junk.
