Tbh, I think that artists might be a bit too worried. This situation is bad but will only be on the short therm, however the industry will be changed forever that’s for sure. As a music artist myself, this situation reminds greatly about how music artist got screwed with the arrival of internet, stuff like napsters got huge and huge revenues got cut because no one was respecting copyrights laws, severely impacting artists income. However, eventually, it got stabilized and reglemented, the old ways were not possible, but the market adapted and today (after having iTunes etc) we have streaming services like Spotify. The whole point is that something similar will emerge with AI art, however no matter how much you complain, it will NOT go away, the product is just way too good for the consumer, ethical or not (like Napster). I think in a few years AI art will be similar to Spotify in the way the art that got used to generate an image would get royalties for it, and the service will be subscription based. For now you just have to roll with the punches. You also need to realise that most people using ai art would have never commissioned a real artist, because they just do it for fun, they don’t really care about having a pic of them as an anime character, they just find it curious and fun. So these consumers are actually a good news for when the service will get regulated, because they will bring totalities when they would have never bought a commissioned artist. Anyway that’s my opinion on the matter, the current product is clearly unethical and exploitative, which need to be fixed and I truly empathize for any issues it will bring, that sucks, however the product is just too good for the average consumer so don’t expect it to go away, however continue to spread awareness about it and hope the market adapts quite rapidly, and it will be fine.
