The worst part of this is that I have to wonder what else the lawyers involved got habitually wrong. This sloppiness (the kindest term I could use here) did not just spring from nowhere. How many other cases were cited without being properly researched? SMDH
I was a legal secretary for 2 years (through a temp agency, no legal training) about 30 years ago, and even I know better. Seeing the title of this video, my first thought was "Oh shit" because I knew what had happened - they took ChatGPT's word for it and didn't check their facts. Hell, low level worker that I was, even I had to pull the books to check the spelling of legal terms I was unfamiliar with! It's just not that hard.
Oh, dudes, I am truly embarrassed on your behalf. But I'm even more pissed off. It makes me feel like even if I'm a client, I should double check my lawyer's work. In which case, wth am I paying them for? These guys gives lawyers a bad name.
