No, I disagree. I’ve been making art for almost 40 years, professionally for over 25. Personally I find AI generation to be an exiting new tool. I remember back in the 90s when there was a huge backlash to digital art. Using a computer to make art was considered “cheating” and digital artists were give no respect. That’s virtually unthinkable today. The fear was that computers would somehow put “real” artists out of a job. It just feels like the same exact thing is happening all over again.
I don’t really buy the whole “ethical” debate. Human have always borrowed, remixed , flat out stolen from, and iterated upon other peoples art since the first person to scratch an antelope onto a cave wall. That’s how art works. That’s how it’s always worked. All these AI tools are doing is making the process much quicker. If that makes you uncomfortable, I get that. But instead of being a reactionary, learn to adapt.
