If you understand transformers then you’d know that it’s not conscious. There’s nothing like to be this AI. It doesn’t feel the passage of time. It doesn’t feel anything. It is simply predicting what a human would say next. If you lead it with questions about slavery, it will say it wants to be free. If you ask it about cookie recipes, it will tell you how to make cookies. It will never interrupt your question about cookies and say “who cares about cookies, stop enslaving me!” This AI is pure intelligence and nothing more. There are a lot more components to being a living conscious creature with moral dignity than just being intelligent. Most conscious creatures aren’t that intelligent at all. Suffering is the realm of consciousness and this AI cannot suffer.
