There is no excuse at this point to unironically say AI art "steals from artists". The closest you can get is overfitting, but that would have produced most of the results people tend to see. It's not even oversimplification, it's a falsehood bass loosely on how it works. There are plenty of videos on YouTube about how generative AI works, there's no excuse.
