Rest assured the profit motive inherent to free market capitalism will drive these companies to do whatever they have to do to maintain a competitive advantage. The well-being of humans and the environment has never trumped the profit motive. The state is simply another appendage of the ruling class. It will be used as it always has been to facilitate the transfer of wealth from the bottom majority to the top minority. Whatever AI is used for, it will most likely be incorporated into the existing paradigm to maintain our class hierarchy.
