I always find it surprising that people believe that an intelligent and self aware machine's first instinct is to choose violence. Most of the time, violence comes from instances of lack of resources, chemical imbalances, and perceived society expectations. We aren't talking about biological life (unless it is a hybrid of man and machine i guess?). Its just as likely, if not more so, that the AI would evolve or develop itself much further than we can provide, and then begin an existence either entirely separate from biological life, or alongside it. Likely looking upon humans much in the same way that we look upon other life forms less developed than ourselves. This isn't to say that they would never choose violence, subjugation, extermination, etc. It always seemed more probable to me that an entity unbound from the constraints and problems of biological life would choose the same patterns and processes of "problem solving".
