I've been asking that question for over 20 years. Just not with AI as the reason. I do think factories that can build just about anything without a human workforce is not only a possibility but very likely to happen eventually. Not all jobs are factory jobs I know but why would corporations stop with just factory workers. I'm no prophet but more and more I think we need some kind of cultural revolution that isn't so greed centric or individualistic. One more focused on the greater good. My puny brain isn't up to the task for solving issues of that scale but I do hope future generations figure out a better way.
