We're watching capitalism fizzle out.
This is why the predator class is sinking everything into AI - but here are the parts they forgot to calculate:
You cannot have capitalism without consumers.
You cannot have consumers without people with money.
You cannot have people with money without labor being compensated.
You cannot have compensated labor if you've automated everything and eliminated the workforce.
The system that promised infinite growth on a finite planet is running out of both the planet and the people it needed to consume the growth.
You can't make more money selling things to people who can't afford things so you sell the debt instead. Then you securitize the debt. Then you bet against the securitized debt. Then you need a bailout when the whole thing collapses and the people who couldn't afford the things in the first place pay for it.
That's not a growing economy.
That's a carcass being picked clean.
