AI art is just the AI's object recognition done in reverse. 'Nuff said. If you see AI art that looks like it's "ripping off" artists, that is because that example was made from someone feeding an image into the AI to _paint over_ it. The AI just "Photo-shopped" an image, which is no different than me taking an image and painting over it in Photoshop. But there is a threshold at which my painting over the image constitutes a legally transformative work. Do we call Photoshop an "art theft" tool? We don't call hammers "murder weapons" unless someone deliberately uses a hammer as a murder weapon.
