This is my thought. AI will make work efficient and require fewer people working to sustain a larger population that doesn't have to work. Humans technology evolved already to the point that many people prefer being in a game to being in reality. AI will gamify human existance and reward people for developing skills or exerting effort on hobbies. Fewer humans will be required to work as time goes on, until all human work is replaced by self-sustaining machines. By that time, technology will be so advanced that people will choose to live in virtual worlds rather than the real one. Ironically, there will be people living in virtual worlds that replicate the 90s in which they work and have makebelieve careers, using outdated technology, to live out life their existence. What's also to say that machines won't just trick humans and shuttle them off to make believe worlds without them even realizing (we're all in a simulation). If you can imagine something, it is also a possible reality. Film makers such as Jame Cameron will be viewed as a future Nostradamus.
