The one thing that needs to stop is butthurt artists trying to stop progress when they are completely ignorant about how the technology works.
Machine learning AI works in a similar way as a human artist when he is learning how to draw. They scan images that are available on the internet for people to see, and they train weights in their code based on these images to understand what they are. It does NOT have any image stored anywhere inside its code (storing 5b images in a ~4gb model is literally impossible), so there are NO copyright issues. If anyone thinks that this is theft, then EVERY SINGLE human artist is guilty of theft, because they start learning by copying other people's work and imitating at first.
Anyone that does not want his work to be used by AI models and other people that want to learn how to draw, they should remove all their work from publicly available pages. Replace them all with heavily blurred versions, and put the original behind a paywall available only after someone has paid for it. If the image is available to be viewed by others, it can be used for training without legal issues, because a human can train by using it to learn.
I was copying art from other people when I was started drawing years ago, these are working in a similar way. If people can watch the art, these models can scan it, end of story.
And every single piece AI produces is original even if it has similarities to other works, but you need to know how the system that generates the image works to understand that, something that you don't.
I am a software developer and solo game developer, and I find this movement by ignorant people that are whining because their fragile feelings got hurt by 1s and 0s, really annoying. Learn how this technology works, because your arguments are stupid at best.
Also, you are complete hypocrites, because you have been using AI-related tools for years to make your life easier, but you never had a problem before. Now that you finally understand that you are about to be replaced (like the rest of us will in the next 4-6 years), you are starting to act like kids.
Embrace the tech and use it to your advantage for now like a smart person, humans being replaced in the near future is unavoidable anyway, you artists are not special and you don't deserve special treatment. (edit: Check OpenAI's ChatGPT and see how it writes code. Learn first, then think, and speak after that.)
I will be against every single artist that is against AI, you are only making yourselves look worse and worse with your childish behavior. And I will happily stop paying people like you for work I want, I will either do the work myself using these tools, or pay artists that openly use them.
