I used to be cautiously excited about the whole AI a few years thing but that has completely vaporized. Even if it wasn't all stolen labor, and it didn't just generate nonsensical "works at first glance ONLY" pieces. I'm a programmer, I do amateur game dev, so I was happy to be able to generate tiling grass or whatever some better way. But seeing (and truly understanding) the absolute trash these AI's generate via coding tools, what it does to a code base, and even worse, what it does to studying programmers, I assume it does the same in other areas where I do not have expertise to sniff it out (like visual art, writing, music, ...). I like to use the metaphor of a paper-mache bridge; an AI would happily design such a bridge, tell you it's cheaper and more eco-friendly (give you bullet points and everything), but any engineer and most (all?) non-engineeers would immediatley see problems. In software, the exact same problem occurs, but it's far less obvious to non-engineers (and usually, hopefully, not as dangerous). In theory, AI is a tool that can be used to great effect by a professional. It's not a replacement of that professional. In practice, AI is conglomerated stolen labor. It NEEDS actual people to do the actual work.
