AI and robotics was always going to replace human labor at scale. That it will put the masses out of work with no recourse is a result of decisions made decades ago to allow the ruling class to devalue labor and for all intents and purposes acquire control of nearly all of the wealth. AI is not the cause of what will happen to the working class, it was always coming, it is the choices that were made getting here that will have their effect magnified to an obscene degree that are the root cause.
It's now a catch 22, any country/culture that resists AI will simply be left behind, extremely behind, but to embrace it is probably the final nail in the coffin for the majority. The only way to maintain work with the productivity increases is to pass on the productivity to workers (which we chose not to do for over 60 years and is now too late to reverse) and/or reach for the stars which would actually require all those productivity gains to produce more, not just just cut labor. I don't see the latter happening as it's not in the interest of quarterly profit margins.
