Be wary of this style of ‘activism.’ The guest was explicitly citing /only/ worst-case projections from studies, without presenting the baseline or most probable outcomes.This is, unfortunately, a common persuasion tactic: cite extreme, worst-case projections as if they’re the expected outcome, while omitting the study’s central estimates or uncertainty ranges. It's designed to leave the listener with a distorted sense of risk and urgency. By utilizing this style of science communication, one must assume her to be a bad faith actor due to her use of such an overt manipulation tactic. Just to even more strongly demonstrate how manipulative and outright dishonest she is being, she said "These data centers are around 97 decibals. For those of us who know what LRAD are, these are sonic cannons that reach 140 decibels. Think about it, from 97 to 140 isnt a very big jump". Excuse me what? That's just nonsence on a magnitude that is unbounded from reason. The decibel scale is not a linear scale. It is logarithmic. A small increase almost immediately become 10x, 100x, 1000x, 10,000x louder. In this case, 140 Db versus 97Db is just shy of 20,000 times louder!
