This is a highly disturbing interview. The guy is 77 and he is "out of here soon" he said, but what remains for the younger generation will be catastrophic. Egoistic and self-centered people with power and generally business-driven conglomerates will ruin the World. Signs are already showing - cyber criminals, drones, small-brained individuals committing crimes and self-hard "because ChatGPT told them". It is going to be ugly. I don't see a version in the future where AI turns our World into a Utopia. Hinton, being "The Godfather of AI" has incorporated a small hardcode backdoor (word or a phrase) that can shut it all down for HIM and his family in case it all goes bad, whether endanger them or inconvenience them in any way. The takeaway from this interview is: this is a 20-mins of a calmly delivered death sentence to the World as we know it. In 20 years, I sincerely hope I will have the freedom and opportunity to go back to my comment and say "I was wrong, things turned out great".
