I’ll probably have a very unpopular opinion here, but I’ll say it anyway. I’m an artist—tattooing, drawing, painting, jewelry making in resin, silver, and bronze. I live and work in this creative world. And here’s how I see it: Most people are biased and hate for the sake of hating. Historically, becoming an artist took a lifetime of discipline and sacrifice. Art was a luxury, something rare and valued. Then the world changed—after WWII, wealth was redistributed, life reset, and suddenly things were more equal. Technology came along, tablets and digital tools where you could paint, make mistakes, hit “undo,” and keep going. That gave everyone access to art without the years of struggle or respect for craft. On one hand, that’s amazing. On the other, it cheapened the path of learning, respect for teachers, and appreciation of true skill. Now it’s 2025. If AI just stole your “job”, that’s not AI’s fault—it’s because your skills are low. You want to be paid for what you think you’re “worth,” but if you lived 100 years ago, you’d have been laughed out of the art world. Most so-called artists today can barely scribble stickmen, watch a single YouTube tutorial on “how to draw an eye,” and then demand a fortune. Of course they’re mad at AI—“how dare a machine beat me after I spent two hours practicing!” But real artists? They won’t be affected. They create art because they love it, not because they expect a paycheck. Mediocre, generic “creatives” are the only ones who should be worried. I’ve hired people on Fiverr and Upwork to test this, and honestly? Most of the work was awful. Meanwhile, one of my mentors—someone I’d call a true artist—would auction his paintings starting at just the cost of materials. Because art, at its core, is about expression. It’s about telling a story that someone else can feel. It was never about making millions. That’s only in recent years, when art turned into a tool for money laundering, inflating prices so clueless buyers thought a canvas with a seven-digit price tag must mean something. The truth? Most of that “art” sits collecting dust in homes, bought on impulse by people with money they can waste and not enough meaning. 🤷 If you bought any art in past 5 years, how many times you actually come to look at and think what artist meant with it, clean the dust etc? Probably none...
