While I a million percent agree with you, to play devil's advocate, if it could be trained ethically, I think AI could become a useful tool to help small or independent artists produce "volume art" by eliminating some of the more tedious aspects of it. The best example of an art AI tool I would gladly use is something that will lay down flat colors for webtoon artists or animators. Webtoon artists must produce "volume art," and if you are an independent creator, then any aid that would remove the more tedious aspects of creating lots of artworks (like flatting) would be very attractive and tempting for me to use.
Now, there is a question of "where is the line in the sand?" While I have no qualms with an AI tool helping me with flatting, someone else may feel the same way about lineart or rendering. How many of these AI "tools" could be stacked together before it no longer can be considered a human-created comic? It's an ethical dilemma between efficiency and creativity.
