Something that irks me about the business model of Big Tech is this: in my country, you are not allowed to sell food items below cost. In everyday business there are laws making sure that you don't push the competition out of the market with underhand practices. But Big Tech is allowed to burn hundreds of billions of dollars, often for years, in order to eliminate the competition and only become profitable after people have no other alternative than to use their services. This needs to stop. We have patent laws to protect investments, but show that you actually have a business case, that people are willing to buy your product at cost at the very least.
In my life and my job I don't really need AI, so it'd have to come with fairly low price tag for me to even try it out. I want to see that price tag, and I want the service to be behind a paywall, so that people see the cost they inflict and can make a choice about whether or not it's worth that to them.
