I'm a software engineer. I have worked for Amazon and directly worked with Bezos on some of their machine learning processes in the early 2010s.
This is not an unrealistic story. Not a single thing said here is incorrect.
Granted, there are measures we can take - but the ultimate conclusion with brute force compute is that our hubris will be our end.
Good luck ya'll. I have faith it will be alright - but I'm pretty confident it's more of a greed of solving world hunger and climate change that I'm willing to roll the dice.
