Most things that most people do is basically garbage. I may be interested in my own child's drawings, but I'm not going to be spending time on the internet looking at other people's kids drawings, because those people don't matter to me in the same way. I've fallen in love with several Miyazaki films, I've even read his wikipedia page, and just as you pointed out, that adds to my experience of the work. But that's not the question you should be asking yourself, the real question is: Did I look up any of the numerous in-betweener artists that worked on the movie, do I care at all about anyone else that worked on the film? The answer is obviously no. The human connection can matter, in some cases, to a certain extent. However that doesn't change the fact that in the medium term AI is opening up the possibility for significant labor savings in certain areas, and that's going to hit employed nobody-artists quite hard. People keep making the mistake of assuming what AI can do now, and it's limitations, is the end of the road. It's not. Think about huge commercial games and all the artists they have creating every chair and plant. In the not too distant future you could instead have potentially just one skilled human create a set of samples intended to train an AI on the style, and then generate enormous asset lists based on that. On the other end of the spectrum, say you're the owner of a small local mattress company, you want to make some stupid little advertisement with a graphic on it. Are you going to get that graphic from some artist? Well probably not right? You're going to use ai because it probably will do a better job than whatever random guy you find for 20$ would, and nobody actually cares anyway. Like, you're not going to be thinking about the subjective relationship of art and the human experience when looking at an advertisement for a mattress company right? Between the two examples I illustrated here, that's most artists. You're always going to have art for fun, you're always going to have art people value for subjective externalities, but ai art does have the potential to absolutely wreck the commercial art world.
