There's a certain degree of irony here. I'm leading a tabletop game for some friends. Being a computer person who spends his time 1) learning computers 2) learning religion 3) learning history, I've never been willing to invest the time to get gud at drawing. I have done so from time to time, but it's awful. For this campaign, I am using AI to generate some of the campaign illustrations. This is pure value add. If AI didn't exist, I wouldn't pay for images or try to draw them myself -- they just flat wouldn't exist. And this is entirely between friends; If I was doing this commercially I'd darn well pay a real human artist. And here's the irony: The book I'm going through actually HAS art already in it, created by a real human artist. The reason I'm using AI art instead is precisely because the original iilustrations are the work of the original artist, and I'm not going to use their work without their permission. So I'm actually using AI imagery to AVOID copyright infringement, not propagate it! Be that as it may, I fully support artists such as yourself poisoning training sets. Because the threat isn't hobbyists making art at home to share with friend for free. The threat is big corporations laying off all their artists and copywriters et al because they want these giant plagiarisms machines to make money for them -- perhaps scraping the very artists they just laid off. And that's just nasty.
