The thing that gets me is the comparison to digital art. I do a lot of traditional art, if my computer exploded. I could still make art. You can't do that with AI. Sitting down with pencil and paper and drawing isn't feasible because you haven't built that skill set, I'd be proud of you if you drew your first stick figure or hand. Because you've taken an uncomfortable leap into a larger world. AI doesn't offer that, there's nothing to criticize or improve, you're not sharing with others or talking shop. I think there's so little joy in it.
Ironically I feel the same way about Twitch streamers as a streamer myself. Something that really got to me was Asmongold saying that artists need to get a real job now. Blatantly missing the obvious point that he, himself, is a creative. I would argue his content is shit but I don't like him I guess. But there's still some value in that. I couldn't say an AI creator is shit because of what they put into their work. I can only say it's shit because there's nothing there.
