I feel like ai is not the problem here, its the suits. I study at uni and I use ai to expand my short sentences to maybe even a paragraph. Yes its bloat, but that is what some teachers want. If 25 pages with 12pt letter size is what they want than thats what they get.
Also its really good for writing a rough draft in minutes. Yes, you need to check the sources and read through what it wrote but you dont need to write it all yourself.
And for those who use ai for spell checking, dont do that. If you make ai write something and swap 1 word out it will say at ai checking that its 100% human made. But if it has seen an actual completely human made paper, it will think it made it. It doesnt always know what was it told and what has it said. If you wanna spellcheck, rewrite some things after as well.
