Automation allows people to be people rather than machines.
The problem is actually capitalism which can't handle the idea that people may not have to work to make the bludgers richer to be able to live. Can't handle the fact that people would have the time and energy to actively participate in politics and thus bringing about 'government of the people, by the people, for the people.'
