It's not like "music artists" are protected any more than visual artists. It's just the companies that already take advantage of the "music artists" don't want their profits getting cut into for as long as they can. It's a paradigm shift, that's all. Some companies will make money from it and some individuals will make superhuman progress in what they can achieve, but all of it is utterly unavoidable.
Consider this, it could have very easily happened that Stable Diffusion would not have been released publicly and instead would have been sold to Google, Facebook or OpenAI. All of which have taken advantage of similar content despite claiming otherwise, but now we do get access to all of it. It sucks for artists sure, but there could have easily been a much worse reality where all of the content would have been accessible for mega corporations.
