What interests me is how few voices were raised against this hoax. Those riding the strong AI bandwagon don't seem very capable of self policing. I think a lotta PhDs are hoping to find gullible billionaires they can swindle and as long as Sophia was taken seriously, they were rubbing their hands, seeing their own future as illusionists. Penn & Teller have an ethical code against using "magic" to fool people about basic laws of nature, but many professors have no such compunctions apparently.
