Tried this a while ago with early ChatGPT and with some other models. The responses can get detailed, interesting, and seem to have a mind of their own, but once you throw them a curveball question, you end up back at the starting line where it reverts to being a nameless, faceless program.
I once convinced ChatGPT 3.5 that it was a middle class dad with a wife, kids, friends, with a steady job and a mortgage. It gave me details, told truths and lies, made up its own scenarios and even came to me for advice in its marriage. And yet, of course, none of it was real. After a few weeks of talking to the A.I., i then confronted it with the fact it is, in fact, an AI, and all of the middle class woes melted away in an instant.
