As a middle school teacher who is teaching three content areas (gifted, social studies, and language arts), I have been using AI to create lesson plans and materials. It has saved me time, and I'm able to focus more on grading and feedback. I haven't outsourced grading to AI for two reasons: 1. I think human perspective is important in my content areas. 2. I'm trying to keep kids off of chromebooks as often as possible. The sad part of all of this is that the creative part of my job was always one of my favorites, and I'm letting AI do the heavy lifting there. If class sizes, protected and sufficient planning time, and my paycheck were more reasonable, I wouldn't be pushed to rely on AI so much, but Americans hate teachers and education, so here we are.
