AI can create high contrast. You just have to promote for it. There is a lot of very technical tuning you can do to create more expressive images. It is true that AI by itself currently cannot create something like that, but a common mistake is to think of AI as a creator. If you can perceive the truth that AI is one tool in a multi step creation process rather than a semi sentient robot, a creator can easily work AI into a workflow that creates something high contrast, meaningful, and expressive like that painting
