I really dont understand the reasoning behind driverless trucks. Why put 100s of thousands of dollars of product into a driverless truck and send it across state and risk losing it all? These companies are trying to cut their shipping costs but its not the drivers and truck owners who need to be cut. They're essential. Remember? But there are WAY too many hands in the supply chain that by time it gets to the carriers, there's barely enough to keep the light on. Brokers have been raking advantage of drover who cannot speak English bc they cant negotiate. They are seriously out here paying 50 cents a mile at times. The load gets picked up and delivered bc there were SOOOO many truckers who cant speak English. I never woukd have guessed until recent blitz week. Brokers allowed the market to get so low bc when theyre offered loads, all they know how to say is "si" so brokers have been getting away shipping millions of dollars for 50 cents a mile. Dont ask me how anyone stayed in business that way because it costs at least 50cents in fuel for that truck to move a mile.
