We have no hope! The majority of those with the power (and $) to onboard AI so it benefits the majority only have that power because they want that power. As long as they personally gain benefits from AI they will pay lip service to it's pitfalls until it effects them.
Just look at wealth inequality. Ever expanding. Not all that long ago the middle class professions /flexed their 'I worked hard to get where I am' as the response to the working poor who pointed at the imbalance in reward vs effort. Its no longer the factory workers and the miners on strike every few months but increasingly those middle class professions. Those benefiting from AI will simply adopt the 'I worked hard to get where I am, its the plebs fault for not <gaslight excuse>'
On a positive Ai will enable a far better education for the vast majority, so we can have even more of us vastly over educated while fighting over scraps.
