The two main ways to look at AI art generators is either as a fairly uncontrollable drawing medium or as a difficult assistant. Yes, you can totally get some cool pictures here and there but it can't reliably draw what you want. Its like getting commission work from an artist who can't take directions. You still have much of the same problem if you're just using it to assist your normal art work. For decades many comic writers and mangakas (especially the ones with high technical skills and perfectionists) have had serious issues letting assistants take a decent role in creating their work. For it to work the artist and assistants have to work together and get a good idea of exactly what kind of work is going to be produced by the other and there has to be at least decent chemistry, but you just can't get that with AI. Sure, maybe you could use it to make backgrounds if its style happens to matches yours, but unless you have a lot of work to feed one that you train yourself, you won't be able to get anything horribly unique out of it, and if you just so happen to have a ton of finished work already, you're most likely the kind of person who either doesn't want or doesn't need its help. Its an interesting tool, I'll give you that, but Its just to difficult to train and use for anything fine tuned. I'm no expert by any means but I do have some knowledge and experience in coding and I know how these things are programmed. If you work judiciously, you'll likely become skilled enough to draw what you want with other mediums of drawing before you're able to do so with any program that you might make. There are base templates of many various levels of maturity for art generator programs out there on the internet so if you don't know coding yourself but still aren't sure what to think, you can just see for yourself rather than take my word for it.
