I think the trouble is that a lot of artists want to have their cake and eat it too.
They want the capitalist system to pay them, afford them a career and give them all of the protections that a robust system has to offer.
And yet when the inexorable logic of capitalism comes and replaces (most) of them it hurts. Many MANY industries will be replaced by AI. Artists were pretty much the last. Welcome to the club.
