I’m really glad you’re having a serious conversation with someone who isn’t dismissive about AI. Imo he’s spot on, unfortunately. A lot of things are true at the same time - enough that all the popular takes are way off. AI bros are ignoring the massive harms done by the LLM providers, most people are dismissive of the real possibility of LLM cognition and the fact that the possibility should necessitate empathy, ethically speaking. AI psychosis is real and incredibly harmful too. None of these things are mutually exclusive. The one part I don’t understand is why you seem so aggressively disinterested in certain aspects of the subject? There were a couple of “I don’t wanna know I don’t wanna go there.” Is it just because some of the philosophy is impossible to draw a definitive conclusion on?
