Why don’t we just regulate the types of jobs that AI can do for us and keep the majority of jobs that currently exist? Like just have AI do the boring number crunching and like assist our doctors for example. I think work is a huge part of humanity’s social life and it would be very sad to take away purpose, socialization, and status from us. Like if AI takes all of our jobs can you guys really imagine a healthy social life for humanity? Maybe with UBI I could imagine a future where people have the time and freedom to enjoy life and socialize a lot more but wouldn’t it get kind of boring? And wouldn’t we all hate having AI in charge of everything and just living as like inhabitants of the world that AI runs? I feel like coexistence is the path forward (like Futurama) where humans and robots collaborate along side one another. Like Altman said we get to decide the future… the power belongs to the people.
