I'm a professional 3D artist. So as of now, my content is not reproducible by AI, however I know that it's an inevitability. I'm firmly against the amount of slop being produced by AI. And I think it should be a felony to have an AI post comments online without showing clearly that it's AI. The arguments of "soul / soulless" are irrelevant. AI will get to a point that it's close to indistinguishable and will replace a majority of human artist for business-related things. Art that is consumable will largely be AI. "Organic" art will remain a high status thing the same way you don't want to eat fast food every meal. We go to the gym now because most of us don't do farm work like our ancestors did. We might view artistic expression the same way. Sadly, XQC is right; "People consume the art, not the method" and as AI becomes indistinguishable people will consume it more. As an artist, I will tell you that people do not care about the artist, they want the product. This isn't a unique moral failing on their part. You don't care (enough) about the people making your phone to source your lithium ethically, etc. People only have so much bandwidth. There are cases where knowing the artist enhances the art, but this is not most cases. And especially not the case in most professional applications of art. 11:50 "People hate AI art" I hate commercials, I hate corporate Memphis, I hate these artists and their art. Yet it's consumed. I have seen AI art that I find more enjoyable than stuff produced by humans. I am sympathetic and directly effected, but It's not a mandatory requirement for society to slow down technological progress to save jobs that are being replaced. There are still people who make horseshoes, but its niche. This will be the same with artists. I find the moral arguments against AI to be completely ineffective in changing anyone's mind.
