My view on this, as a Still-Conservative-Former-Republican who became disabled in their 30s, is that the desire to be a net-positively contributing member of society is a natural and healthy one. Our predisposition as a society to measure our sense of self-worth and the worth of others by our utility is not. The hardest part of becoming disabled for me was moving past that idea, and I believe the successful integration of AI into our society will require the same.
