I think the problem wirh AI art is when people actually commercialize it. If you wanna use for yourself, like for example: Creating an avatar for a Roleplaying Game session with friends online, then sure, it is helpful and you are not parasiting in other people's work, since you get no return for it. Though I also agree, it looks rather ugly- it's still really easy to tell when an image is AI generated or not.
