The podcast "Our Opinions Are Correct" gave me a way more interesting and nuances view of this study, which is: how dkd they measure "creativity"? Did they ask people? No: what they did was, they used software to measure the semantic difference between the word and their solution. So to score highly on those metrics, the AI just needed to spit out words that another algorithm decided were different *enough*, more different than humana.
Also, again, this was a single study done on college students, under time pressure in isolation.
