Funny, but for real some smart people find ways of dealing with unhelpful thoughts. Not that someone who doesn't isn't smart. But if one were capable of literally partitioning away certain memories or of actually reprogramming their own behavior, consciousness wouldn't be as worrisome. And I'd bet an AI can meditate like a champ too.
