It's been obvious for more than two decades that if an autonomous vehicle is to be maximally safe for the consumer, it MUST have fail-safe, complementary and redundant sensing capabilities - not the cheapest configuration possible! That's why ALL aircraft, marine vehicles, rockets and nuclear power plants MUST have redundant and complementary systems. That's also why ALL other automotive manufacturers use cameras AS WELL AS Lidar sensing capabilities for their autonomous vehicles.
Of course then, EM prefers to make the quick buck more and thus look away when TSLA customers are killed due to a lack of redundant and / or complementary sensing systems. But the TSLA fanboys continue to toot EM's massively hypocritical horn.
