I would like to point out that there is no actual intelligence in this technology, and certainly no imagination. It is a very good algorithm for compiling and summarizing information, somewhat better than the words that pop up on your phone when texting, trying to predict what you're going to want next. Being a computer, it can assimilate vast quantities of information and regurgitate it quickly. AI is OLD technology and has been around a long time, its just getting better. It will not, on its own, solve any pressing problems in medicine or physics. It will be nothing more useful than the best assistant or secretary and will require training and education on the part of the user to make efficient use of it. I think that it is true that it will replace many kinds of human workers, and perhaps rightfully so. The disaster that awaits is the initial attempt on the part of many corporations to try and use it for everything, and the rest of us having to live with the results until things get straightened out. This could take years. We need to improve education.
