Best explanation I have heard: They are not artists, they are prompters. And as prompters, they are no more an artist than a commissioner. They are putting in a request, an idea - a commission - to the program, which then interprets and creates(!) the request. If you didn't create something, you are not the artist. I'll add: Imagine if you completely automatised the process of making a car - you give it the parts it needs, and activate it. Just because you used a tool, does not mean you created that car. The purpose of the tool is to save the steps necessary for creation. It creates, so you don't have to. If you don't create, then it's not your work.
