As an IT graduate, AI exemplifies my core issue with this branch of science. Patents are now by corpos, not by individuals.
Thousands of brilliant scientists, engineers, and researchers made thousands of humanity advancements. But we never heard them anymore because corpos strongarm them to sell their patents or face career blacklist to gain a marketshare edge for monopoly.
Had it been individual, we would have held the creators of AI accountable, but we can't because of how hard it is to pierce the corporate veil, to serve the right person calling the shots.
