AI is a self-defeating premise honestly, because if it keeps producing simulacrum that outnumbers human made references it will inevitably poison itself by regurgitating it's own simulacrum for reference and start making copies of copies, simulacrums of simulacrums and as we know the inevitable result of this is that it will start degrading back to creating mush images that look like a weird compilation of something familiar until you try to focus on any one thing and it's an unrecognizable mess. To survive it by definition has to be limited in scope or else be clearly marked as AI so it doesn't become part of the feedback loop. It might have commercial viability to make uninspired minimalist corporate logos and product labels, but that'll be a very niche use and one that fits it's nature the best, while true art will be left to actual artists. However, even if there is some odd reason that makes AI "art" prolific and prominent, all that will do is make work made by real humans that much more valuable - just look at any mass produced product and compare it to it's equivalents made by a person, the "bespoke", "artisanal", "hand crafted" etc. Used to be that you could only get a suit from your local tailors, but now that you have mass produced suits, suddenly an individual tailor making a suit just for you has become a lucrative business with a sense of prestige that only the rich can afford. Artists will win without even having to fight back in any scenario, but I do like you poisoning your art too, so why not.
